Guiding Your Journey to Lasting Change

Evidence-based therapy grounded in empathy and understanding.

Welcome

At Metanoia Psychology, we believe deeply in the human capacity for change. Based in Robina on the Gold Coast, we provide a safe and supportive space for adults to navigate life’s challenges, process emotional pain, and reconnect with what matters most.

Many of the people we work with describe feeling “stuck” — caught in unhelpful patterns, weighed down by self-criticism, or carrying emotional pain that’s hard to shift. Others are living with the effects of trauma, the challenges of addiction, or the quiet exhaustion that comes from holding everything together for too long.

Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to face it alone. Our role is to walk alongside you, offering skilled, attuned support as you move toward a life that feels more grounded, connected, and aligned with who you truly are.

Our Philosophy: Embracing Metanoia

The word Metanoia (μετάνοια) comes from ancient Greek and means a profound change of mind and heart — a reorientation of one’s inner world. In psychology, metanoia describes the process of moving through crisis, loss, or inner conflict toward a more integrated and authentic self.

It’s not about quick fixes or surface-level change. Metanoia reflects a deeper kind of healing — one that involves questioning old patterns, reconnecting with what matters, and allowing new understanding to emerge.

At Metanoia Psychology, we see this process as central to therapy. Growth often begins when life feels uncertain or overwhelming, and with the right support, that same space can become the starting point for insight, resilience, and renewal.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — you can book directly without a referral. However, if you’d like to access Medicare rebates, you’ll need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. Your GP can send the referral directly or you can bring it to your first session.

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what’s been happening for you. Rachel will ask some background questions to understand your goals and what you’d like to get out of therapy. Together, you’ll discuss a plan that feels realistic and supportive.

This varies from person to person. Some people find a few sessions helpful to address a specific issue, while others benefit from longer-term support. Rachel will regularly review your progress with you and adjust the approach as needed.

Yes, we provide secure online sessions for clients anywhere in Australia. Research shows telehealth therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions. It can be a convenient option if you live regionally or prefer the comfort of your own space.

We understand that things come up. Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation fee.

  • Less than 24 hours’ notice: full session fee applies

  • 24–48 hours’ notice: 50% of the session fee applies Medicare does not offer rebates for missed sessions.

That’s completely okay — many people feel unsure at first. The first session is simply a chance to explore whether it feels like a good fit. You’re not locked into anything and can decide at your own pace.
